Saturday morning setup at Fontana has become like second nature to me. We always try to arrive a little earlier than most to be able to get a good spot in the pit area and a jump start on DH practice… however, this constitutes for a very early 4am departure from Vegas.

“The BIG CHEESE” is in control of the PA at Fontana and a fine job he does of it. Nobody should mess with the CHEESE especially when he is plugging KHS… he truly has become one with that microphone!

Don Jackson (Southridge Racing) can be seen here getting the first XC racers staged for the grueling 3 lap XC race. If you have done any XC riding in Fontana you will know that there are some good climbs and descents that you can attack on that course.

It was warm in Fontana this past weekend but not too bad. We got to enjoy some of the typical So Cal weather which overall turned out to be great!

First on the agenda for Saturday afternoon was the 4X practice and racing. This course was dry and loose, so getting maximum traction was imperative.

Logan Binggeli raced his way into a 3rd place podium finish in the finals behind 1st Eric Carter (Mongoose) and 2nd Evelio Suarez (Iron Horse).

Binggeli worked hard on his gate starts with an AA Pro BMX racer this past week. After Angel Fire and leading up to the Fontana Cal State race, he feels that his gates are already 100% better with just those few sessions.

All you can do when hiking back up a 4X course in Fontana during the month of Mays heat, is to remain hydrated and focused on the task at hand…and maybe a bike jockey would help too!!!

Chuck Valenzuela had another good Vet Pro finish this past weekend. Valenzuela ran two consistent times taking the top of the podium for KHS for the day and also earned himself the Cal State points lead in the Vet Pro division. California State races are always contested over a “two run combined format”.

Binggeli had two consistent runs in the Downhill Sunday placing him a 6th overall. The top 5 are always good for the win on any given day.

I finished 9th overall in the Downhill and managed to collect some important points at this stage of the series, with only the finals at Woodward left.

Chuck Valenzuela on the podium in 1st for KHS

Semi Pro – KHS “B Team” rider Scott Johnson placed 4th in the Downhill adding another podium finish for “KHS”. Johnson is a regular rider at Bootleg Canyon and has done very well out there this year in the local Downhill and 12 Hour Cross Country events .

KHS is proud to be a PLATINUM Sponsor of the Southridge Racing events. We would like to extend a very BIG “Thank You” to Don Jackson and his wonderful family for all the hard work and extra effort they put into their race events. The USA needs more Don Jackson’s to help elevate our sport.

We will be in Deer Valley, Utah next for stop #4 of the National Mountain Bike Series. Please stay tuned for more updates and pictures as they become available.

All the best,
